Meadow Blazingstar (Liatris ligulistylis)
One of the "signature" plants of the tall-grass
prairie, meadow blazingstar has tall spikes of flowers (up to 70 cm
high) that emerge from upright, leafy stalks. It blooms from late July
to mid-August adding to the height of the prairie's glory, gently swaying
among the tall, waving grasses. It produces fluffy, purplish seed heads
in September.
