Pink-Flowered Onion (Allium stellatum) Pink-flowered onion blooms in mid-July and this is about the only time most people will notice this plant as its grass-like leaves blend into the background of the prairie. This wild onion has small (pickling onion sized) bulbs with a very strong odour. They were used by natives and early settlers for flavouring foods.
